Pewnego dnia przestały wyświetlać się reklamy AdSense na mojej stronie. Cały kod AdSense pobierał się poprawnie, jednak w finalnym tagu <body> reklamy było pusto.

  • Dlaczego przestały wyświetlać się reklamy AdSense?
  • Jak sprawdzić, czy domena nie została zablokowana/zbanowana przez Google AdSense?

Rozwiązanie

Jeżeli reklamy przestały się nagle wyświetlać, a domena nie została zbanowana przez Google AdSense (o czym później), to najprawdopodobniej nie wprowadziłeś jeszcze kodu PIN, który dostałeś od Google w formie papierowej ok. 4 miesiące od tego incydentu (treść listu na zdjęciu obok).

Kod PIN jest jednorazowym elementem mechanizmu weryfikacyjnego konta AdSense i jest wystawiany po osiągnięciu progu zarobków (dla Polski jest to odpowiednik 10 USD). Jeżeli w ciągu 4 miesięcy od otrzymania PINu nie zostanie on wprowadzony, to po prostu przestaną wyświetlać się reklamy, a po kolejnych 2 miesiącach konto zostanie zablokowane na zawsze. Mając pierwszy raz do czynienia z programem Google AdSense, list z PINem łatwo zignorować, ponieważ niewiele on mówi o co w ogóle chodzi, jak również nie otrzymujesz żadnego emaila z uprzedzeniem jego wysyłki i wyjaśnieniem powagi tematu oraz konsekwencjach.

Jeżeli po wprowadzeniu kodu PIN w ciągu 48 godz. reklamy nadal nie pojawią się, to:

Możesz też sprawdzić czy reklamy dla Twojej domeny wyświetlają się poprawnie, wykorzystując poniższe narzędzia. Reklamy AdSense powinny się tam wyświetlać, nawet gdy na Twojej stronie już nie działają i nie został też jeszcze wprowadzony kod PIN.

Jak sprawdzić czy Google zbanowało domenę lub konto dla reklam AdSense?

Jeżeli zamierzasz wykupić lub odkupić jakąś domenę w celach zarobkowych z AdSense, warto sprawdzić jej status w Google przed zakupem, przy pomocy poniższego narzędzia. Domena może być już zbanowana i jest trudno oczyścić ją z tego statusu, jeżeli w ogóle to możliwe.

W czasie gry występuje błąd „Brak autoryzacji dysku” i Xbox restartuje się.

Rozwiązanie

Problem występuje na konsoli z LT+3.0 po zainstalowaniu gry na dysku twardym. Aktualnie nie ma pewnego rozwiązania, nawet ze specjalnie przygotowaną nagrywarką, która wypala 100% obrazu XGD3 (przycięte kopie nie są już więcej wspierane – szczegóły na team-executer.com).

Można go jednak rozwiązać pośrednio, usuwając zainstalowaną grę i korzystając jedynie z DVD. Jednakże i w tym przypadku może pojawić się błąd, który można jednak wyeliminować, wykonując poniższe kroki:

  1. Usuń zainstalowaną grę z dysku twardego.
  2. Wyłącz Xboxa.
  3. Odłącz twardy dysk (instrukcja na xbox.com) i odłóż go.
  4. Włącz Xboxa (bez dysku oczywiście).
  5. Uruchom swoją grę z płyty DVD.
  6. Wyłącz Xboxa po chwili.
  7. Podłącz ponownie twardy dysk.
  8. Uruchom Xboxa i… to wszystko.

Wszystkie gry, na których wcześniej pojawiał się ten błąd powinny już działać bez problemu, jednakże tylko z płyty DVD. Po ponownej instalacji gry na HDD, błąd niestety powraca.

Uwaga

Podłączając Xboxa z iXtreme LT+ do internetu musisz liczyć się z tym, że Microsoft może wgrać bez pytania tzw. „cichy patch” do systemu (robi to już od jakiegoś czasu), który ma na celu wyeliminowanie działania iXtreme.

While playing game „Failed to authorize disc” error occurs and Xbox is restarting. 

Solution

This error touches LT+ 3.0 consoles after installing game on HDD. There is no robust solution to this issue at the moment (probably until next LT+).

According to team-executer.com truncated XGD3 burns are no longer supported. You need to get use the iXtreme Burner MAX Firmware flashed into compatible burner like the Liteon iHAS 124-04 B (see how-to video below), then your burns will no longer be truncated and will be 100% 8.7GB to a dual layer disc (recommended certain types of high quality VERBATIM). Flashing burner firmware has also hardware requirements: any SATA Chipset (NON-AHCI Mode) or Xecuter X360USB PRO. Unfortunately, even then you can’t be 100% sure, your backups will work, because there is many other factors deciding on your backup quality. By XGD3 and latest Xbox updates, burners and burning media has been pushed to their limits, where that backup burn quality is very hard to achieve.

If this is too much for you, you can only avoid this error by playing on original disc or removing installed game from HDD and playing from backup DVD only. But even then, you can encounter this error, which can be also easily avoided, doing the following steps:

  1. Remove game install from Xbox HDD (press X on game picture and choose Delete).
  2. Switch off Xbox.
  3. Unplug Xbox Hard Drive (how-to on xbox.com) and put it aside.
  4. Switch on Xbox (without HDD of course).
  5. Start your game from DVD and play a while.
  6. Switch off Xbox.
  7. Plug Xbox Hard Drive back.
  8. Start Xbox and…

That’s it. No more errors while playing on backup DVD. Unfortunately, installing game again will bring this error back.

Be aware

Any time you just connect your Xbox to the internet (XBLA), it can be patched silently by Microsoft to eliminate iXtreme functionality, causing similar or other issues.

iPad 3 vs iPad 2 Display

My both iPads 3 displays are darker and have warmer colors with a yellow tint in contrast to iPad 2 (see the movie below). Reportedly, the yellow hue is a temporary chemical phenomenon (according to zdnet.com) which recedes after a few days. Moreover, it was also found in early iPads 2, iPhones 4 (see macrumors.com, techcrunch.com) and iPhones 4S (see news.cnet.com). But at the moment, for those who cares about the colors (e.g. graphic artists and photographers) yellow tint can be too painful. To the casual user it rather doesn’t matter until contrasted with any other reference picture/display due to natural human brain white balance ability. Things are worse if your new iPad has unevenly/partially yellow screen – you can do nothing with it but take it back.

iPad 3 screen color test just after the purchase

It’s not true that all iPads 3 have warmer display than iPad 2 as Apple might say – it’s propaganda.  Just look at the picture below, taken on Polish Apple Premium Reseller (iSpot) demo table.

For more new iPad 3 users yellow tint feedback go to thread on discussions.apple.com. In my opinion, based on users feedback, majority yellow iPads were manufactured before March 2012 (my was in 1 week of 2012). You can check your Apple device production data on chipmunk.nl (or in form below), providing its serial number (app Settings > General > About > Serial number).

How did I reduce iPad 3 yellow tint?

I found that using new iPad just only intensively is not an effective way to get rid of yellow tint, as advised on the web. I’ve decided and had to apply special treatment to achieve solid effect. So, I took the following steps:

  1. Auto-Brightness OFF and brightness set to the MAX.
  2. Auto-Lock OFF and locked onto Portrait Mode.
  3. Saved white screen to Photos and opened on full screen (see photo).
  4. iPad connected to the charger. Disconnected from time to time to let battery do its (dis)charge cycle.
  5. Finally, iPad put to the drawer for several hours and between the clothes for better warmth incubation. My iPad was getting 41.5°C/106.7°F throughout the process.

Look at pictures below after 24 and 48 hours - yellow tint visibly reduced! Time is summarized for every several hours burning cycle in between I was using it normally. After 48h I didn’t notice any significant improvement (see pic after 60h).

Remember

It’s not an advice! It’s a report about how I reduced evenly covered yellow tint display.

My only advice can be to take back your new yellow iPad to the Apple for your claim. The rest is up to you and you’re doing it on your own. Apple says that „operating iPad in higher temp. than 35°C/95°F might temporarily shorten battery life or cause iPad to temporarily stop working properly”.

Both iPads side by side at once in all shots. iPad 2 plays reference role to eliminate WB effect. Pictures taken with iPhone 4 (no HDR). For those more perceptive, iPads show 4 min difference in time, because I simply didn't set them :)

How to check iPad 3 backlight bleeding and stuck-pixels?

To check stuck-pixels (even at a store), start new/blank tab in Safari and thus you get your white test screen. Rotate iPad up and down and look for tiny black spots. Although Retina pixel has 0.0038 inch/0.096 mm, surprisingly stuck-pixel is really visible by bare eye (or take magnifying glass with you). Looking at white screen you’ll see black pixel and the same pixel will be white on black screen (look at my pics below).

iPad 3 vs iPad 2 Thickness

Both iPads are practically the same, so iPad 2 case or cover fits iPad 3 perfectly. That’s great news :)

iPad 3 WiFi

I’ve really experienced WiFi issue as mentioned on many websites around the Web. iPad 3 is losing internet connection – not WiFi connection, which seems to be flawless (iPad still shows full bars WiFi icon at least). For the time being you can fix this issue switching off and on WiFi (or resetting network settings that gives the same result). But…

Advice

Avoid restoring iPad 3 from an older iPad/iOS archive. You’d do better setting it as a new iPad.

Personally, I suspect that the real problem is faulty process of restoring iPad 3  from an iTunes archive made on older iPad and iOS. I’ve had no such issue on an empty/new iPad 3 64 GB, taken out of the box, until restored from the iPad 1 iOS 4.3.3 archive (BTW, iOS 4.3.3 had also WiFi issue). Anyway, my second iPad 3 32 GB was installed as a new (wasn’t restored from any archive) and no single issue has been occurred yet.

If still no luck…

Last chance

Play with Apple standard iOS WiFi troubleshooter (e.g. sometimes changing router/AP bandwidth from 40 MHz to 20 MHz can help – look at router settings picture below)

or wait for new/better iOS, or just go back to your retailer.

Apple says: "Disable 40MHz in the 2.4GHz settings on the Wi-Fi router. Mac computers, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch do not support this mode. Disabling it may reduce interference issues." In Apple router WiFi recommendations for iOS we read: "Using 40 MHz channels in the 2.4 GHz band can cause performance and reliability issues with your network, especially in the presence of other Wi-Fi networks and other 2.4 GHz devices. 40 MHz channels may also cause interference and issues with other devices that use this band, such as Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, neighboring Wi-Fi networks, and so on."

iPad 3 excessive heating

At the first use (iPad taken out of the box), you can experience relatively high temperature on the left side (about 33.6°C/92.48°F as knowyourmobile.com measured).

Advice

Do not charge new iPad first time until battery runs out completely and then recharge it fully.

This fixed heating phenomenon on my iPad 3 (even stressed for a few minutes with 3G graphics in Epic Citadel). If you haven’t done it yet, just do it. But…

Remember

Rising your new iPad 3 brightness to the max will always rise it’s temerature to 33.6°C/92.48°F (or even more if you display more white than other colors). It’s normal for iPad 3, even if iPad 2 stays cold in that situation, but go to the half a way and your iPad 3 will stay cold also.

According to knowyourmobile.com, it’s all about iPad 3 Retina Display implementation: twice as many LEDs as in iPad 2, additional battery strain for Retina Display and less power efficient/old silicon display technology.

iPad 3 slow or no charging issue

Facts

Setting iPad 3 display brightness to the max exceeds it’s power consumption over the charger ability to refill the battery. As a result, battery energy level is steady or depleting instead of increasing while charging.

If you want working on iPad while charging, just go down with your brightness or buy 15W charger.

More Retina brightness = less power and more time needed for charging.

Other iPad 3 issues

that can be found on the web are:

  • iPad 3 WiFi range issue reported on christianpost.com but tests found on aerohive.com didn’t confirm it’s inherent.
  • iPad 3 4G cellular connection drop issue reported on discussions.apple.com. It seems to be an iOS 5.1 bug (allegedly Apple infoline confirmed that), so I would wait for next iOS before any claim.
  • iPad 3 100% battery issue reported on zdnet.com.

Exactly… the dumbiest idea I’ve ever seen was not to differentiate both iPads names.

  • How can I explain to a newbie or my mother-in-law which one to pick from the shelf or on ebay or wherever?
  • How to defend against cheating merchants?
  • Is the new iPad the latest iPad or only new iPad 2?

I’ll try to tell you… iPad 3 has:

  • bolder package :)

Based on my current experience, 1080p (full HD) iPad 3 or iPhone 4S movie takes on average (+/- 10%):

  • 10 GB for 1 hour or
  • 168 MB for 1 minute.

Apple won’t let you set 720p on these devices (not in iOS 5.1 at least), what could let you spare your valuable space. So, you are always forced to 1080p. Assuming, iOS takes about 0.5-1 GB and extra 6 GB will take your apps (it’s the modest, I think), you are facing that:

  • on 16 GB (13.1 GB available on an empty device) you can get about 30 min 1080p movie,
  • on 32 GB (28 GB available) about 2 h 1080p movie,
  • on 64 GB (56.7 GB available) about 5 h 1080p movie.

User available memory (here in Polish 'Dostępne') on an empty iPad 3 64 GB.

  • Ile miejsca zajmuje film kręcony iPadem 3/iPhonem 4S w rozdzielczości 1080p?
  • Ile godzin wideo nakręcę na iPadzie 3/iPhonie 4S 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB?

Rozwiązanie

Filmowanie

Przeciętnie film 1080p (full HD), nagrany przy pomocy iPad 3 lub iPhone 4S zajmuje +/- 10%:

  • 10 GB - 1 godz. nagrania,
  • 168 MB - 1 min. nagrania.

Apple nie umożliwia zmniejszenia rozdzielczości filmowania z 1080p na np. 720p (przynajmniej nie w iOS 5.1). Rozdzielczość 720p byłaby wystarczająca w większości przypadków i zajmowałaby mniej miejsca.   • na wersji 64 GB (dostępne 56,7 GB) nakręcimy ok. 5 godz. filmu 1080p.

Solution

Just type RDP or Remote Desktop, or VNC in iTunes. There are many apps, but the only below I’ve found most usable on Apple devices. I was looking for apps in the following context:

  • I use RDP for home (LAN) purposes like working on old IBM USFF Windows 7 PC without monitor as an application host and Internet access machine.
  • VNC I use for controlling my Windows 7 Media Center HTPC (touchpad, keyboard) sitting before TV LCD. Although Mobile Mouse (Lite is for free on iTunes) could be more suitable for that purpose, VNC gives you extra desktop view functionality.

Apps presented here are the most usable I have ever seen, because of:

  • full screen view without any additional controls (controls obtained by multi-touch gestures not icons),
  • Windows operability (easy access to context menu, pointer maneuver and actions),
  • rich screen depth, resolution and Windows effects options,
  • the speed.

Summary

The best remote desktop app for me at the moment is Jump (Remote Desktop), because for $14,99 you get app for all Apple devices and both RDP and VNC protocols. Better usability on iPhone and iPod Touch has Jaaduu RDP for Windows, but it’s not worth of the money compared to Jump functionality. For more info go further.

What to choose: RDP or VNC?

There are many sites explaining RDP vs VNC:

From my (the Windows user) point of view, differences are as follows:

PC access
  • RDP is native to Windows. You have only to enable Remote Access.
  • VNC client server app must be installed on Windows and granted with appropriate access on firewall.
Display settings
  • RDP is logging at independent display resolution specified by you in RDP app not affecting original OS display settings.
  • VNC is displaying OS at its native resolution (as is).
  • In both protocols you can set display color depth independetly of OS settings. This helps speed up display response (refresh rate).
User session and control
  • RDP is logging out current user, so you always display OS screen only on RDP device. You can’t use RDP and see concurrently the same on computer monitor. But you can log on another user account not affecting your current user session, using concurrent sessions patch on downloadsquad.switched.com (for Windows 7 Home) or missingremote.com.
  • VNC is logging as a second input device and allows take alternative control over the computer, not logging out current user. Thus, you can use Apple device as a touchpad or keyboard with OS screen mirror.

If you need real Windows keyboard then touch Windows 7 Start logo and type command osk and hit Enter. On Screen Keyboard application will show up (see pic below).

Experience

WMS is a very clever and helpful device but also has some drawbacks that are not so explicitly said by its vendor. I’ve gathered below all important WMS features I’ve found using it as a LAN access USB adapter or, lets say, USB LAN Drive :)

  • Current WMS firmware version (v3.01.001) has really restriction to max. 1TB visible resources. It’s huge comparing to Flash Drive or even 2.5″ HDD, but it means, if you add LAN sharing resource (NAS share or shared PC’s network folder) containing 2.5TB, only first 1TB will be accessible by WMS (Windows shows exactly 802GB as seen on pic below). The rest 1.5TB are invisible.

    Wireless Media Stick firmware v3.01.001 has restriction to max. 1TB visible resources (actually 802GB).

  • You cannot add to WMS any subfolder on NAS shared resource (see pic below) – setup doesn’t let you to browse deeper than the highest share folder level. Thus, if you want to have control what is seen on WMS, you must create dedicated NAS share with resources you want to be visible, that not exceeding 1TB. PC doesn’t have such a restriction, because you can set whatever folder you want as a shared resource.

  • Another restriction is FAT32 WMS file system, where only a file not exceeding 4GB is visible. Therefore, forget about playing 1080p movies – you simply will not see them on WMS (usually it is 8GB file or more).
  • Above mentioned restrictions can be mitigated with another firmware update – manufacturer says about them in current firmware version context. CTO of HSTi answered on my inquiry that in 2012 there will be released firmware with increased capacity to 2TB and NTFS added (this spring – no ETA provided).
  • WMS is starting approx. 60 seconds. During this period WMS is booting, WiFi logging and network shares scanning.
  • WMS provides only resources scanned during startup process. Any added resources after WMS startup won’t be visible until WMS is restared (taken out from USB port and inserted once again), which also means extra 60 sec. startup procedure. Reportedly, it’s a restriction of USB Mass Storage protocols.
  • On WIWA HD-90 DVB-T STB with WMS starting a movie takes about 10 to 90 seconds. Faster, if movie was played already before. Slower, if movie is played the first time. There are no such lags on PC with WMS or on STB with native USB Mass Storege Device.
  • WIWA HD-90 DVB-T STB is playing HD movies through WMS only until first minute and then exits to USB Mass Storage choice menu (I’ve been tested MKV 720p) – WMS is resetting. There are no such issues on PC nor with SD movies. If you experience that problem, you can try to change your WiFi router or access point channel bandwidth parameter from 20MHz to 40MHz or inversely (see pic below from my Cisco router).

  • WIWA HD-90 DVB-T STB is fast-forwarding movies on WMS not so smooth as on Flash Drive or HDD.
  • You cannot write on WMS. It doesn’t seem to be so obvious at the first look. If I want to use PVR or Time-Shift on my STB, I must use USB hub and another dedicated USB Mass Storage device for that. Adding extra space on WMS Setup volume (or another volume, lets say 8GB-16GB) could solve this inconvenience.
  • WMS is updated automatically through its web interface. Just click on the icon and WMS will update itself.
  • WMS firmware is updated more or less half a year, so HSTi is really working on its improvements.

Czym jest Wireless Media Stick (WMS) firmy HSTi dowiesz się z tekstu PenDrive USB z dostępem do zasobów sieci WiFi. Tutaj prezentuję doświadczenia z jego użytkowania w tunerze DVB-T WIWA HD-90 oraz z dyskiem sieciowym WD My Book World Edition II White Light 4TB, z którego odtwarzam multimedia na tunerze właśnie za pomocą WMS.

Specyfikacja techniczna WMS

  • Pojemność WMS jest wirtualna i może sięgać 1TB (zasoby są w sieci a nie na WMS)
  • System plików: FAT 32
  • Interfejs: USB 2.0
  • Sieć WiFi: IEEE 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz)
  • Pasmo WiFi: 2.412 ~ 2.4835GHz
  • Zabezpieczenia WiFi: WEP 64/128, WPA, WPA2, TKIP, AES
  • Moc WiFi: 802.11b: 17 dBm at 11, 5.5, 2, and 1 Mbps, 802.11g: 14 dBm at 54Mbps, 802.11n: 14 dBm (20MHz) / 12dBm (40MHz)

Doświadczenia

  • W obecnej wersji oprogramowania (v3.01.001) faktycznie WMS widzi tylko zasoby sieciowe maksymalnie do 1TB (Windows pokazuje dokładnie 802GB, jak na poniższym obrazie). Jeżeli dodałeś/aś udziały sieciowe o łącznej objętości np. 2,5TB, WMS wyświetli tylko te, których objętość sumowana alfabetycznie wg nazwy nie przekroczy 1TB – reszta będzie niewidoczna.
  • Zapanowanie nad objętością zasobów utrudnia brak możliwości udostępnienia podkatalogu udziału sieciowego. Można tylko dodać cały udział z dysku NAS (patrz obraz poniżej). W związku z ograniczeniem do 1TB, trzeba tworzyć mniejsze udziały, co w przypadku NAS wiąże się z tworzeniem osobnego dysku wirtualnego (udziału sieciowego) i przenoszeniem na niego zasobów oraz pilnowaniem ich objętości.
  • Dodatkowym ograniczeniem jest system plików FAT32, ponieważ maksymalna objętość pojedynczego pliku może wynosić 4GB. Pliki większe są niewidoczne. Zatem nie obejrzymy żadnego pełnometrażowego filmu HD 1080p, ponieważ ich objętość zaczyna się od ok. 8GB.
  • Możliwe, że powyższe ograniczenia zostaną złagodzone w kolejnej wersji oprogramowania – producent na swojej stronie mówi o tych ograniczeniach w kontekście aktualnej wersji oprogramowania. W odpowiedzi na moje pytanie o planowanej aktualizacji firmware dowiedziałem się od CTO HSTi, że w 2012 roku będą wypuszczać kolejną wersję, zwiększającą pojemność z 1TB do 2TB oraz zostanie dodany NTFS (znikną graniczenia z plikiem maks. 4GB).
  • WMS uruchamia się ok. 60 sekund od włożenia do portu USB. W tym czasie odbywa się uruchomienie + logowanie do sieci WiFi + skanowanie katalogów sieciowych.
  • WMS widzi tylko stan zasobów sieciowych od momentu zabootowania WMS. Jeżeli po włożeniu WMS do portu USB dodamy do udostępnionego udziału nowy plik, WMS nie pokaże go. Aby zobaczyć nowy plik w sieci, trzeba zrestartować WMS (wyciągnąć go z portu USB i włożyć ponownie lub wyłączyć i włączyć tuner). Jest to ponoć ograniczenie protokołów USB Mass Storage.
  • Na tunerze WIWA HD-90 film uruchamia się od 10 do 90 sekund. Krócej, jeśli wznawiamy film wcześniej już odtwarzany, a dłużej, jeśli pierwszy raz go odtwarzamy. Na komputerze nie ma takiego opóźnienia.
  • WIWA HD-90 odtwarza przez WMS filmy HD maksymalnie do pierwszej minuty i powraca do menu wyboru PenDrive (testowałem MKV w jakości 720p) – WMS resetuje się. Na komputerze nie ma takich problemów czy też z filmami SD. Problem ten można spróbować rozwiązać, zmieniając szerokość pasma kanału transmisji WiFi z 20MHz na 40MHz lub odwrotnie (patrz obraz poniżej).
  • Na WIWA HD-90 przewijanie filmu odtwarzanego przez WMS nie jest płynne tak, jak z PenDrive.
  • Nie ma możliwości nagrywania na WMS.
  • WMS ma możliwość aktualizowania firmware’u automatycznie z poziomu swojego interfejsu WWW. Wystarczy kliknąć ikonę, a firmware zostanie zaktualizowany samoczynnie.
  • Jak dotychczas firmware WMS jest aktualizowany mniej więcej co pół roku. Zatem HSTi faktycznie pracuje nad usprawnianiem produktu.

Gdzie i jak kupić?

Cena: ok. 450 PLN

Swój egzemplarz kupiłem bezpośrednio w sklepie online hsti.com, w promocyjnym pakiecie Moboplay+WMS za 89,95USD (poza promocją WMS kosztuje 99,95USD). Do tej ceny należy doliczyć koszt wysyłki 25USD (z Calgary/Canada) oraz naliczony w Polsce przy przeprawie celnej VAT 23% od całej wartości przesyłki (towar + transport). Należy przy tym pamiętać, żeby poprosić HSTI koniecznie o wystawienie FVT wraz z wyodrębnionymi na niej kosztami wysyłki i z dopiskiem: DAP MIASTO (np. DAP WROCLAW, co jest skrótem od Delivery At Place). W przeciwnym razie Urząd Celny ustali domyślną wartość przesyłki na poziomie 150 CAD! Cena wychodzi dość spora, bo za te pieniądze można już kupić Apple TV.
